Humanists
have
too high a view of humanity.
When humanists first sought to make a name for themselves they
thought that a worthy symbol would be to build nothing less than “a
city and a tower with its top in the heavens” (Gen. 11:4), yet when
God decided to take a look, notice that he had to "come down"
to see; “And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower,
which the children of man had built” (v. 5). I guess it wasn't that
high after all.
Sure,
one may argue that it's a matter of perspective, but what perspective
is more important than God's perspective? Let us be humble then
especially with regard to all of our so-called
“great accomplishments.”
No
matter how high we may view them, God
will always need to “come
down” to see; “For
every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is
God.”
(Hebrews
3:4).
